I provide treatment to minor-attracted persons seeking help with:
– emotional distress (e.g., anxiety, depression, self-hatred)
– social stigma
– problematic coping (e.g., social isolation, substance misuse)
– difficulties that increase risk of mishandling sexual attraction towards children (e.g., impulsivity, sexual coping, problematic attitudes)
and looking to find:
– effective ways to handle sexual fantasies & urges
– legal, satisfying ways to express sexuality (e.g., co-existing sexual attraction towards adults)
Treatment for minor-attracted persons is not forensic treatment per se: sexual attraction towards children is distinct from child sexual abuse, with many minor-attracted persons living kind, prosocial lives. Still, treatment is included under the forensic tab because:
– treatment aims to empower clients to live in line with their values (which often include community safety)
– some clients may have a history of offending
